On the 16th of May, a new L shaped bench was unveiled in Coed-y-Cwm, by two local councillors, Amanda Ellis and Tony Burnell. Both councillors were instrumental in obtaining the funding via Ynysybwl and Coed-y-Cwm Community Council.

We spoke with Barri Williams who played a big part in the project. “The bench has received a huge amount of positive feedback already, on social media and face-to-face. It has enabled residents who are struggling with loneliness to meet and socialise with other members of the community. The shape of the bench allows for more people to sit and join in the conversation.”

Barry added, “It would be great to see other villages, estates and residential areas adopt a similar project” – and we couldn’t agree more!

A Special Dedication
The bench features a plaque, dedicated to Ryan Baldwin who sadly passed away in March of this year. Ryan’s parents, sister and brother in law were also present at the unveiling.

Too good to throw!
The previous bench has been given a new home, not too far away.
It was relocated to the Lady Windsor Trail, a part of the Taff Trial.
